Synopsis: An end to the armed conflict in Colombia marks the beginning of one family’s journey to reconcile after a lifetime in war. After an exile of 12 years, Yira confronts her mother about her upbringing, and letting her go into exile alone. She refuses to engage with politics and has no hope for a brighter future in Colombia. Meanwhile, Ruby has dedicated her life to the political struggle and fighting for a better Colombia. She finds herself unwilling to let go, and devote herself to her family, while simultaneously unable to justify her cause to her daughter. The complicated history and political turmoil of Colombia is explored through the history of one family, with the overarching question for the family at the centre of it all: should they stay and fight or should they leave and seek out a better life?
